I always thought that if people collecting donations could add a little value they would do a lot better. Share a smile, tell a joke or even teach the donor something. I use the opportunity to learn a couple of traditional Chinese characters and get the girl to teach me the Cantonese pronunciation;

  失明 / sat ming / lose bright (become blind / blindness)
